EMDR Intensive
Why do an Intensive?
Sometimes weekly therapy doesn’t feel like enough. If you’re ready to make faster progress on the challenges you’re facing, an EMDR Intensive might be the right fit.
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a proven therapy for healing from trauma, reducing anxiety, and breaking free from old patterns that keep you stuck. An intensive allows us to work together in longer, focused sessions—so you can process more in days what might normally take months.
Benefits of an EMDR Intensive:
Dedicated, uninterrupted time to focus deeply on your healing
Relief from symptoms more quickly than weekly sessions alone
A customized treatment plan to meet your specific goals
Support and resources to help you integrate progress into daily life
Whether you’re working through a past trauma, struggling with anxiety, or wanting a breakthrough in therapy, EMDR Intensives provide the space and support for powerful, lasting change.
How Does it work?
First you meet with a therapist for a consultation. To make sure an EMDR Intensive is the right fit, Schedule a History Taking session (one hour) and then create the treatment plan. This is where we determine together what YOUR EMDR Intensive looks like.
Cost
EMDR Intensives are billed at the hourly rate of $125 a hour.
Examples: One day for 4 hours would be $500.

How Does it work?
EMDR therapy follows a structured, eight-phase approach designed to help you safely process and heal from distressing experiences. Each phase builds on the last, guiding you toward relief and lasting change.
1. History and Treatment Planning
Your therapist learns about your background, symptoms, and goals. Together, you’ll identify key memories, triggers, and patterns to target during EMDR.
2. Preparation
You’ll learn grounding and relaxation techniques to help you feel safe and in control throughout the process. This phase builds trust and ensures you’re ready to begin reprocessing.
3. Assessment
The therapist helps you select a specific memory to work on and identify related thoughts, feelings, and body sensations. You’ll also establish positive beliefs you want to strengthen.
4. Desensitization
Through guided eye movements or other forms of bilateral stimulation, the brain begins to reprocess the memory, reducing its emotional intensity and distress.
5. Installation
You’ll focus on reinforcing positive, empowering beliefs to replace negative or limiting ones associated with the past experience.
6. Body Scan
The therapist helps you notice any lingering physical sensations connected to the memory. This ensures that healing occurs not only in your thoughts but also in your body.
7. Closure
Each session ends with grounding and self-calming techniques to help you leave feeling stable and supported, regardless of where you are in the process.
8. Reevaluation
At the beginning of the next session, your therapist checks in to review your progress and determine the next focus for continued healing.
Cost
Traditional EMDR sessions can be billed to insurance or at your therapist’s self pay rate.
